If you ask: “Do I need to use a facial toner?” you’ve asked one of the most debated questions in skin care.

Personally, I try to never skip a toner in my daily skin care regime. I love the way my skin feels after a toner, and I really can see the difference on the cotton pad after I apply it. But is it necessary? I stand on the side that says yes, you should use a toner to encourage healthy skin.

There are many professionals who disagree with me however; stating it really is an unnecessary step in your skin care regime unless you have oily skin. In one article published in “In Style” magazine it says: “Today most dermatologists agree toner isn’t necessary. Its main purpose is to remove traces of makeup and residual cleanser, but a high-quality cleanser, even a creamy one, should rinse off easily with water alone…” Yes, it should. But is it? Some of them probably do, but a lot of them don’t. Besides that you rinse your facial cleanser with tap water. What about clearing the skin of impurities found in tap water? Analyze tap water and you’ll discover fluoride, chlorine and sodium which clog the pores and are very dehydrating.

Toner is easy to use to re-hydrate your skin during a day. Just imagine: you followed your skin care steps in the morning, you applied a makeup (girls) and went to work (school, shopping, out…). Sometime in the middle of the day your skin feels “dusty”, or dry, or oily. Would you consider carrying with you your facial wash, makeup remover, make up, and moisturizer? Would you find the time and place to repeat your morning procedure? So you can refresh your face, or wipe off excess oil from your skin, or add some moisture. I never met anyone who would be willing to do it. I know, I won’t. On the other side carrying just one travel size bottle of toner is pretty easy. And using it when you need it not that complicated.

A toner is not just a skin conditioner. It is much more than that. A toner performs at least 4 very essential functions:

A Toner DEEP CLEANSES and purifies your pores, making sure that all pores are totally clear of leftover makeup, cleanser residue, dirt, dead skin cells, waste by-products, toxins and other hazardous elements. If this debris is not removed, you are only forcing it deeper into your pores as your apply moisturizer on top, TRAPPING the debris that can cause bumps, blackheads, enlarged pores, improper absorption of the moisturizer, rough texture and even acne.

A Toner Re-BALANCES the pH level or the natural acid mantel that protects your skin from the environment. It can take your skin up to 30 minutes to rebalance itself after cleansing without using a toner because the sebaceous or oil glands are confused: oily skins keep pumping out oil and dry skins stop producing oil.

A Toner HYDRATES the skin. Skin can be oil dry and/or moisture dry and the moisture content is more crucial to skin health.

A Toner assists PENETRATION of treatments and moisturizers which means complete absorption of the potent nutrients, those nutrients absorbing deeper, more effectively and evenly into your skin. So if you truly are interested in seeing results from your serums and moisturizer, tone before using them.

How to use a toner: make sure the toner is acetone, alcohol and benzoyl peroxide free, even if you have oily skin. In fact, alcohol on oily skin will increase the oil because it’s a STIMULANT. Make sure to tone your skin thoroughly at least twice a day, morning and evening, before applying your serum or moisturizer. Lightly wet a cotton with toner and begin cleaning your skin gently, one small section at a time. Never try using the same cotton all over the skin in one single try.

Start with your forehead, especially at the hairline where it is most neglected during cleansing. After cleaning the forehead, look at the cotton, if you see makeup or any other discoloration on the cotton, get new cotton and tone the same section again. Repeat this step until the cotton comes away perfectly clean, free of any residue and pore debris. Then start with the next section. Perform this procedure from the hairline all the way to the décolleté. The reason you should not stop at the face is because throughout the day when you are busy running around, your body temperature rises and this causes your makeup to run. In fact, on warm days if you tone the upper part of your chest, you will find some of your morning makeup there as well. So if this thin skinned area has little bumps, then your décolleté needs the same deep cleansing.

A Toner also sets mineral makeup, misting after application makes a very soft and set makeup. Especially with some of the mineral makeup that can look almost dry, the hydrosols finish off the application with a hydrating setting action that allows the makeup to feel moist without any shine.

A toner cannot “close” the pores as pores do not have muscles controlling their opening. Pores can only appear smaller, if deep cleansed and there’s good collagen and elastin support.

Now your skin is clean!

First things first. We get up in the morning, we wash our face. This is true for every skin type and every skin color. Depends on difference in your skin type and goals you trying to achieve, you will use different type of cleanser, but everybody have to wash their face. Do not use “something you found in that bathroom”, such as hand soap, dishwasher soap or cat shampoo – that would be wrong. You can laugh. Working as a skin care therapist, I have heard it all and I’m not kidding. This is a question I always ask my new clients. This is the question you have to hear when you come for you very first time to salon, spa, and skin care professional. Why is it important? Because that will help me to understand why you skin looks like it looks and feel like it feels. Some of my clients also told me what their dermatologist advised them not to wash their face (for some skin conditions). I strongly disagree. You just have to use a right product.

Let’s get back to our morning. Wash your face and neck with appropriate cleanser. Using water alone will not be as good as washing your face with a right cleanser. It may be nice and refreshing and will help you to open your eyes in the morning but it does not do enough in terms of cleansing your skin. Why washing your face so important? Because when you wash your face you remove not just dirt, but also dead skin cells, which didn’t shed off from your skin surface, access oils, and your own body’s waste products which your lymphatic system brought to the surface of your skin. Your skin will start to “breath”. And you are preparing your skin for application of those wonderful skin care products standing on your shelf. For men it will be just skin care products, for women it will be also makeup. Make up application will be much easier and finish much smoother if you wash your face before applying any serums, creams and makeup.

Same thing you do in the evening. Remove your make up first, ALWAYS! When wash your face. And only then you can crash! But if you will struggle for another minute, you will be able to put some night care products on your face and neck. By removing all the traces of makeup, dirt, dust, access oils and toxic waste you will prepare your skin for good night sleep and regeneration. Good serums and/or cream will help.

It is very important to choose a good facial cleanser which is right for your skin type. Read the label; ask about ingredients what’s right for you. If you not sure, you can ask your skin care professional. Or you can send us an e-mail, better with a picture of your face without make up, tell us what you currently using and goals you trying to achieve. We will be glad to help you.

But most important is skin care education. I’ve worked as a skin care therapist for many years now. I worked in Europe and in United States. Sadly, from my experience Americans have much less knowledge about skin care then Europeans. I don’t know why and I’m not trying to find that out. What I’m trying to do is to share my knowledge and my experience to help people to look their best and feel more confident. Compliments you going to get will be the best reward for me.

I hope you will take this opportunity to take care of your best asset — your beautiful skin. I am excited to be able to share with you my passion for skincare. I truly believe that beautiful skin is a matter of choice, not chance and that it is never too late to start taking care of it.

We will be talking about skin care regiment, skin care products, ingredients, how to choose best products for you, skin care treatments, skin care salons and spas, and everything you would like to know to help you to achieve and maintain healthy and beautiful skin for very long time.

I want to remind you: ask any questions you have. You can leave a comment on our blog or send us an e-mail: info@esheeesthetic.com.

Let’s start from the beginning. What is our skin? How it works? Why do we have to take care of it?

Understanding this will bring us one step closer to achieving our goal. Looking younger, healthier and hear more often: “Wow! You look fantastic! How you do it?”

Our skin. What is it? I’ll try to keep it as simple as possible, to make it less boring and easy to understand. J

Skin is a living organ, the largest organ in our body. And just like any other organs it needs our attention and our care. It protects all our inner organs, because of our skin we can feel cold and warm, soft and rough, regulating our body temperature. It consists of three major layers: epidermis (the outermost layer of our skin what we can see and touch), dermis (the middle layer which is responsible for all our skin qualities and functions), and hypodermis (fatty layer of the skin which is connecting our skin to our body),

How many times we think about it? How we take care of it? And do we?

We all have born with healthy and beautiful skin. We getting used to this fact and stop seeing it as a miracle, as a part of our body. How many of us treating their skin like a piece of their close, something they wearing every day? They say: “It’s (skin) always there, it’s always been there, and it always will be there. I don’t have to do anything.” And most of their skin care program is to wash their face with water then it gets dirty.

Our skin is not part of our clothes; you can’t just wear it out and buy a new one then this one is gone. Interestingly, as we all know already, today we can leave with only 50% of functioning organs, we can replace some of it; we can even replace the heart. We can’t replace the skin, and we will not be alive with only 50% of our skin left.

Our skin is a fingerprint to what’s going on inside our body. For example: If your skin looks dehydrated – all your body is dehydrated, not just your skin, If we getting allergic reaction to something and we see the signs of it as red spots all over our skin surface – it’s not just there. Exactly the same thing is going on inside our body.

We are rushing to a doctor, if we just think, that something not right with one of our inner organs. So why do we ignore something we can see ourselves, just by looking at ourselves at the mirror every single day?

We are trying to eat healthy, exercise to maintain our body young and toned. But how many of us do as much to keep our skin healthy?

Next time we will start from step by step instructions on how actually to do it.

As a skin care professional whose business is to improve the skin health and appearance of my clients and educate them about importance of skin care, I am always surprised at what appears to me a double standard about our concept of beauty.

When I was reading one of professional magazines, I run into this article by Doctor Mark Berman. I’m not going to make you read all of it, but here is the part with which hard to disagree.

“In almost everything we perceive and enjoy, beauty is a virtue. Why isn’t every house a dull, square, functional structure? Why doesn’t every commercial high-rise look alike? Why do we care about the appearance of our cars? And why would someone worry about what his or her jacket or sweater looks like?

All of these things – our homes, our places of work, our means of transportation, and our clothes – serve utilitarian purposes. And yet, somehow, it’s not enough that our homes shelter us, our high – rises provide office space, our cars get us from point A to point B, and our clothes keep us warm. When it comes to home, office, car, or clothes, most people care a lot about the appearance of things.

The simple fact is that human beings enjoy things that are beautiful, and it is our appreciation of beauty, especially in the form of art, that distinguishes us from the lower animals. When it comes to personal beauty, this higher function serves another purpose as well: beauty is typically a sign of good health and strong genes, and therefore what attracts us to each other as potential mates.

Clearly, then, it pleases us to look at physically attractive things. And that is the virtue of beauty: It makes us happy. And I humbly and simply submit that the meaning of life is to exist and be happy. You may have various goals, purposes, projects, desires, or spiritual pursuits, but ultimately everything you do is to get you from day to day and hopefully provide you as much joy as possible.

So why would looking physically better… be considered “vanity”, especially in the negative sense of that word, with its drippings of conceit and inflated pride in one’s appearance? After all, it’s perfectly fine to color your hair and wear make-up. We don’t condemn people for taking care of their health or their bodies. And far from condemning the “vanity” of fashion, we glorify it. ..

Is someone who wants to look better and feel better about his or her appearance conceited? The answer is simply no…”

What do you think?

What Is it?

“White Diamond of Nature”

This luxurious repair and retexturing cream is based on White truffle Extract. The unique combination of vitamins, trace elements and amino acids assures the most complete care for your skin. Smoothly textured it drenches the skin in moisture, leaving it toned, supple and protected against free radical damage. This supremely elegant formula combines the finest bioengineering technologies, offering skin the most effective and luxurious brightening action ever experienced in skincare formulation.

THE RAREST OF THESE INGREDIENTS IS THE WHITE TRUFFLE. Coveted by the nobility of ancient civilizations since 450 AD, the rich, aromatic nature of the white truffle deemed it a luxury product and sign of wealth among early Mediterranean cultures. E’shee’s International Scientific team has researched and determined the numerous therapeutic benefits of the precious white truffle for skincare.

White truffle is one of the planet’s richest sources of B vitamins, also known as “the beautifiers”. Vitamin B complex provides oxygenation to the skin, improves blood circulation and toxin removal, controls cell formation and cell life span. B 5 is responsible for reducing stress and promoting adrenal functions which in turn hinders the process of acne formation, yielding a smooth and lustrous skin. It also plays a key role in skin hydration and moisture retention.

Truffle Extracts are excellent source of SOD – SUPEROXIDE DISMUTASE. SOD is the most powerful cellular antioxidant. SOD enzymes provide exceptional cellular protection against Free Radicals while offering anti-inflammatory properties and ultimately slowing the aging process.

Not greasy, non-comedogenic.

Main Ingredients: Aqua, Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe) Leaf Juice, Biosaccharide Gum-1, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Distillate, Tuber Magnatum (White Truffle) Extract, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Extract, Isostearyl Alcohol, Yolk Lecithine.

Recommended for:

All skin types and ages as a daily moisturizer, anti-aging and anti-oxidant.

“The Rose Sheet”

E’shee Clinical Esthetic joins an emerging segment within anti-aging cosmeceuticals with its peptidepowered skin-care products that deliver results by activating stem cells in skin.

The Somerville, N.J.-based firm says it is the first personal-care company to use acidic fibroblast growth factor, or FGF-1, a heparin-binding protein involved in tissue repair and wound healing.

Although it characterizes FGF-1 as “stem cell technology,” the company is quick to note online that its products “aren’t about putting embryonic stem cells in a jar and slathering them all over your face. Instead the technology focuses on using polypeptides and enzymes to ‘awaken’ the body’s own reservoir of epidermal stem cells to rejuvenate the skin.”

In June 22 interview, E’shee founder Nataly Giter acknowledged that “stem cells make some people nervous.” However, “the customer is also more educated now. It is not about taking someone’s and applying them to yourself, it’s about repairing [damage to] your own cells from aging and pollution.” With aging, the function of stem cells in skin repair is less efficient. “If stem cells are not getting signals, there are not repairs,” Giter explained. “FGF-1 delivers the signal to start rejuvenating.” As opposed to Botox and other injectable fillers, “our products trigger the body to do its job. It doesn’t artificially fill the wrinkles,” said Giter.

Giter learned of FGF-1 from Ohio University professor Dr. Ing-Ming Chiu, who was first to clone the human FGF-1 gene. Chiu’s research has explored the growth factor’s use to address neurological damage and broken capillaries, as well as skin. Giter got involved about 10 years ago and started laying the groundwork for a line of skin-care products.

Fibroblast growth factors are signaling molecules that play important roles in the processes of cell proliferation and differentiation. FGF-1 interacts with multiple receptors to not only revitalize the epidermis – as is possible with epidermal growth factor, or EGF, which many cosmetics manufacturers use, according to E’shee – but also to stimulate underlying fibroblast cells that produce collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid.

According to the company, use of its products that contain FGF-1 makes “skin cells grow 10 to 20 times faster than if using any other skin-care products.”

Firm Offers Six-Ampoule Set

E’shee’s collection consists of six products that sell in spas and physicians’ offices, as well as at EsheeEsthetic.com. The brand promises “wrinklefree skin within 30 days.”

Gene Therapy Serum for Cellular Repair is “the only product on the market that combines hyaluronic acid and FGF-1,” the firm notes. The results are firmer skin with increased volume, disappearance of fine lines and a reduction in deep wrinkles. Giter says the serum also “cuts off healing time by up to 60 percent after plastic surgery.” A 0.34-oz ampoule is $179.

Giter is providing training seminars to physicians and spa technicians on how to use the product, as well as how to use it in combination with other products in the company’s stable.

Gene Therapy Serum for Cellular Repair and Bota Therapy Concentrate Serum ($189) work together to deliver “lifting action” and improve skin quality, Giter said. Bota Therapy awards a nearly 30 percent reduction in the appearance of “dynamic” wrinkles after 30 days of use, decreasing facial lines and wrinkles by up to 68 percent in 45 to 60 days, according to E’shee.

Other offerings include Serum Hydra Gold, which mimics a facial and includes flecks of gold leaf, and Serum Vitalizing “C” which facilitates the transfer of Vitamin C into cells to reduce fine lines, wrinkles, age spots and sagging skin. Each is priced at $119.

Serum Intensive Brightening, also $119, is an “intensive booster treatment” that corrects pigmentations spots and skin discoloration from acne, the firm says. The antioxidant product contains 15 percent L-ascorbic acid and 1.5 percent m-Transexamic Acid.
